- Operate 4 MGD Lime Softening Water Treatment Plant regulated NC DEQ, Water Resources Division.
- Plant receives raw water from 19 wells. Operates two ClariCones where lime and polymer is added to water flow. Formed sludge blanket removes coagulated solids.
- Feed fluoride and sulfuric acid (pH adjustment) to flow as it enters surge tank.
- Water filters through five sand filters to remove non-settleable floc.
- Filtered water flows through 250,000 gallon clear well and a 1.0 MG clear well operated in series prior to high service pumps.
- Downstream chlorine gas, polyphosphate and ammonia gas are injected into flow for disinfection and corrosion control.
- Utilize SCADA to monitor, operate and adjust chemical feeds, tanks, high service pumps and operation of wells.
- Collect and analyze samples of raw and finished water for process control every two hours. Analyze for hardness, iron, alkalinity, carbon dioxide, chloride, monochloramines, chlorine, fluoride, polyphosphate, pH, turbidity, temperature. Adjust chemical feeds based on analysis results.
- Record and report data to county laboratory for submittal to NC DEQ, Water Resources Division.
